I’ve went back and forth on this issue a bit. I wasn’t sure whether I even wanted to write a review on this system since it does go over 1,000 in price. I usually like to stick to things that can go along with a lower budget but sometimes you just have to splurge. Let’s take a look at the Nakamichi Soundspace 8.5 Home Theater System and see how it stacks up to the competition.

First off let’s start with listing the features of this system :

Features include:

    * DVD/CD player
* Top-loading mechanism design
* DVD/CD/CD-R/CD-RW/MP3 playback
* Center channel crossover and power amplifier
* Internal circuits configuration
* Active high pass filter for center speaker
* Power amplifier for center speaker
* Built-in universal power supply to drive other two units as well
* Master power switch
* Remote control
* LED power indicator
* S-Video/Composite/Component video outputs
* Digital Audio in/out
* Audio Analog in/out
* Subwoofer output (8-pin connector)
* Auxiliary input (mini jack)
* Optical digital output (MD)
* FM antenna output
* DC power input/output (CAT-5 cable connector)
* Headphones output
* 135W maximum output power (15W x 5 satellites, 30W x 2 subwoofers)
* 5-channel satellite speaker system
* Dual active subwoofers
* Satellite speakers measure 3-1/8 inches wide x 7-5/16 inches high x 3-15/16 inches deep
* Subwoofers measure 9-1/16 inches wide x 20-1/16 inches high x 9-5/8

That’s quite a long list of features and some of them go way over my head but that’s ok because we’re going to just look at a few of those things and what you will probably find is important as well.

Let’s look at the design and set up of the Nakamichi Soundspace 8.5 Home Theater System… I personally find the system attractive and believe it could be pleasing to the eye in many living rooms and dens but you also have to think about where you are going to place it? Is it going to fit where you need it go or are you going to have a big flop of your hands and up with a system that doesn’t fit. Thankfully the people at Nakamichi has considered this problem and have remedied it by allowing you to change up the speakers – you can easily stack the units on top of one another to form a cube, place them side by side, or arrange in any other way to suit your taste and décor. Its front panel offers only the minimum necessary controls–source selection, main system volume, and FM tuning–so as not to mar the panel’s stylishness or interfere with its ease of use.

How about sound? That’s really what we care about right? The reviews show that most people are either very happy with their sound or satisfied,some even say that nothing can come close to the sound of these speakers when it comes to home entertainment when you stay within the same size range,however the bigger systems do of course perform better and there can be a bit of distortion if you want to listen to your music really loudly.

All in all a good system for the price and as you can see with all of the features you should have some fun playing around with the system for a while.
